Public Furniture: Wood and Metal Construction. UC Berkeley Arch 160, Spring 2012.
Team: Kaidi Liu, Heather McMenomy, Michael Belen, Cynthia Bathgate
Wood and metal design-built outdoor furniture pieces accessible to Berkeley campus and adaptable to general public. These furniture reflect the compressible, tensile, and torsional properties of each material employed. The wooden bike rack is prefabricated and assembled on site and features mortises and tenon, cross-lap, and splice lap joints. And the metal reading bench is composed of welded-together steel flat plates and L-angle steel members.
