Eontime Crown Plaza: Laguarda.Low Architects. Holhot, Inner Mongolia, China. ~80000 sqm.
At a design phase in which the building's core and shell is near completion, I was brought on board this team to develop the skylight concept, which features a organic and compound-curvature shape stretching across the span of the shopping mall. The challenge of the skylight involves figuring out a structural system that's modular and aligned to the rest of the mall's structural layout, meanwhile preserving the experiential integrity of the interior. Thus we developed a glass paneling system based on a parametric diagrid model, with its primary structural members oriented in parallel to building's column grid, meanwhile all secondary structural members are kept under a estimated 2 meter length limit.
Moving on into the interior space, I detailed all paving plans, RCP, and bulkhead, designed various elevator lobbies, and specified all materials for the interior design package.
